Alice Zalik is creating The Blue Carbuncle Pillow
Here is the first picture of "The Blue Carbuncle" pillow as it's evolving. Because it's set right after Christmas, the color scheme includes green as well as red (hat lining) and blue (for obvious reasons). The pattern of the red, beige and black tie on the left evokes thoughts of an army of geese, and the pattern of the red, gold and green tie, bottom left, arguably could be a stylized image of a goose on a platter. The fancy gold grillwork on blue to the right could be a setting for a brilliant stone. Beads, gemstones and charms appropriate for the story and the color scheme will be added as the pillow continues to evolve.
The raffle tickets are $5 each and worth every penny to own this creative Sherlockian masterpiece.

I shall discuss two actual cases in which Conan Doyle successfully intervened on behalf of the accused: Oscar Slater, a German Jew who spent nearly 20 years at hard labor when he was wrongly convicted of murdering an elderly spinster in Glasgow (1908); and George Edalji, the English-born son of an Anglo-Indian vicar. George served 3 years at hard labor after being wrongly convicted of livestock mutilation (1903).
