Alice Zalik is creating The Final Problem Pillow
Here's the front of "The Final Problem" pillow as it stands now.
The color scheme is black and red, because of the swirl of evil created by Moriarty, silver and gray, representing the waterfall. There are also some reds, greens, and blues representing the foliage of late spring and summer during which time Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson are traveling, and the kind of wild flowers that might be found in mountainous regions of Europe. The pattern of one tie, in particular, makes me think of waterfalls and another of the water at the base of a waterfall swirling around rocks. The black tie with red diamonds represents Moriarty's organized legions of criminals and petty crooks (work with me here). So far, seams are covered with semi-precious beads (dragon's blood jasper, garnet, and labradorite); glass seed and bugle beads; brass decorative beads; square horn beads (representing rocks); and rocailles. Additional beads will be used on the seams, and story related charms (a bust of Napoleon, a spider on its web, a serpent, etc.) will be added before the front and back of the pillow are sewn together. Then the pillow insert will be added and the black, tasseled and beaded trim sewn on so the pillow will be ready for the Denizens' meeting.
The raffle tickets are $5 each and worth every penny to own this creative Sherlockian masterpiece.Return to Index
